San Diego Hospice
San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine is one of the 10 largest community owned, not-for-profit hospice programs in the nation, caring for 1,000 patients daily in their homes or other facilities in San Diego County. We have more palliative care specialists on staff than any other hospice and we do more to support the training of hospice and palliative care professionals. Everything we know, practice and teach about the science of palliative medicine is focused on the patient as an individual and as part of a family. We've been doing it that way for more than 30 years.
WE ARE READY TO HELP YOU.
With programs and services that are world-recognized for their innovation and excellence in pain management and the relief of suffering. With a history of compassionate hospice care and a future based on research, training and the leadership in the field of palliative medicine -the science of comfort rather than cure, of enhancing the quality of life for people who are seriously ill.

WE HAVE BECOME EXPERTS IN THE RELIEF OF SUFFERING.
We are experts at managing pain. Nine out of ten patients admitted with pain report being comfortable within 48 hours. We also train more palliative medicine specialists than any other program in the country - in the world actually.

HOW DO WE DO IT?
Hospice care costs are primarily covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal, plus many insurance providers. San Diego Hospice also relies on the charitable support of the community to care for hundreds of people who otherwise could not afford our help.
